Comments submitted at least four (4) days before the hearing will be reviewed by the Board prior to the meeting.
It is strictly against Indiana Code and the Board of Zoning Appeals Rules to contact a Board Member prior to a meeting to discuss a petition that will be decided by the Board. Parties that make contact Board Members with the intent to influence a member's action may be prosecuted under Indiana Code 36-7-4-920.
Noble County Plan Commission
We enforce the zoning ordinance in unincorporated parts of Noble County, Indiana.
Incorporated towns of Kendallville, Albion, Ligonier, Cromwell, Rome City, and Avilla maintain their own ordinances and are outside our jurisdiction.
The Plan Commission Office will not accept any petitions started after 3:00pm. Petitions may be filed between 8:00am-3:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Board of Zoning Appeals
The BZA (Board of Zoning Appeals) is a quasi judicial system that primarily hears petitions for variances and special exceptions. They also manage appeals to decisions made by the Planning Director (also known as the Zoning Administrator) via Administrative Appeals, and oversee Trash, Junk and Debris complaints filed at the Planning Commission Office.

The Planning Commission institutes and maintains the UDO (Unified Development Ordinance), which is our zoning ordinance in Noble County.
The nine member board holds appointed members (County Commissioner, County Council member, the appointed ag agent, and the County Surveyor) and citizen members.
Common tasks handled by the Planning Commission are Subdivisions, Vacations of platted land (but not platted public ways, like roads or public drives), rezonings (the Plan Commission provides a recommendation to the Commissioners who make the final determination), amendments to the zoning ordinance (known as the UDO or Unified Development Ordinance) and the zoning maps.

2018 Meeting Schedule
- The Board of Zoning Appeals meet on the first Wednesday of each month.
- The Plan Commission meet on the third Wednesday of each month, unless otherwise noted.
- The meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Dekko Meeting Room unless otherwise posted.
- All filing deadlines are at 3:00 p.m. on the dates provided on the schedule below, except applications for Subdivision Plan Approval and Vacations. Subdivision and Vacation applications must be filed thirty (30) days prior to the next available Plan Commission meeting date.
